Metrópolette was started out of my love for all things urban and green. I’m a 20-something year old college student studying geography and urban studies on the West Coast.
When I was younger, I wanted to be a writer or a magazine editor. I didn’t tell people that, but it was my dream job. I think it was the movies, 13 Going on 30, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, insert-other-chick-flicks-here, that created this idea in my head. If you haven’t seen these classics, the lead women are all magazine editors at some big, fancy corporate magazine.
Needless to say, I didn’t become a magazine editor! Instead, I went to school to study geography (because I love the environment and traveling), urban studies (I love cities, duh) and business (because part of me felt like it was the responsible thing to do?). Fast forward 4 years later, well into my last year of university, the plan is to complete my Masters in Planning and go into Urban Planning and Development.
Part of me still wants to be that magazine editor; therefore starting this blog is my way of creating my own online magazine world. Because blogs are basically full of beautiful photos, tips and articles just like the magazines, right?
Underneath the surface, I’m just your average 20-something year gal. I love a good glass of Pinot Grigo or Sauvignon Blanc. I’m passionate about a lot of things. I’m looking to climb the corporate ladder, but I also want to travel the world, see great things and take photos of everything. I love a good time. But I also love curling up on the couch with a good book and a warm drink in hand.
Metrópolette is a place where I can combine my loves for photography, writing, green living, and all things to do with the city. Follow along on my journey as I experiment with my (new) apartment décor, create DIY lotions and cleaning potions, attempt to cook fancy French inspired suppers and desserts, and take a copious amount of photos of anything I find interesting. I hope you’ll feel inspired.
